HomeMy WebLinkAbout1978-25 Canvass of Vote 0523 RESOLUTION NO. 78-.~-- A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE CANVASS OF THE VOTE AT THE SPECIAL ELECTION HELD IN AND FOR THE CITY OF ASHLAND, OREGON, MAY 23, 1978. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Ashland met on the 20th day of June, 1978, at the English Lecture Hall, Ashland Senior High School of said City and proceeded to canvass the votes cast at the Special Election held in and for said City of Ashland on the 23rd day of May, 1978, and WHEREAS, the said Council has canvassed the said vote and has determined the number of votes cast for and against the measure appearing on the ballot at said Election. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ASHLAND, as follows: SECTION 1. That the votes cast in the Special Election submitted to the voters by the City Council, the ballot title of which is: "52. CHARTER AMENDMENT TO PROVIDE FOR ELECTION OF MUNICIPAL JUDGE By the Initiative Process it is proposed to amend the Ashland Muni- cipal Charter, as amended, to provide that the Municipal Judge will be elected for a term of four (4) years; must be an active member of the Oregon State Bar; need not be a resident of the City of Ashland; and his compensation will initially be the same as for the year 1978- 79 and thereafter to be adjusted in the same percentage as the aver- age salary adjustment of the other supervisory employees and depart- ment heads of the City of Ashland." For the Measure 1816 Against the Measure 942 The majority of the votes cast upon said Measure being in favor thereof, the Measure is hereby declared approved. The foregoing Resolution was READ and DULY ADOPTED at a regular meet- ing of the City Council of the City of Ashland on the 20th day of June, 1978. Nan ~. Prickett, Mayor of the City of Ashland, do hereby proclaim the approval of the people of the City of Ashland, by virtue of that certain Special Election held May 23, 1978, of an initiative to amend the Charter to provide that Municipal Judge will be elected to a 4-year term; must be an active member of Oregon State Bar; need not be a resident of City of Ashland; and that his compensa- tion will be initially the same for 1978-79 and thereafter be adjusted in the same percentage as the average salary adjust- ment of the other supervisory employes and department heads of the City of Ashland.
