AN ORDINANCE AMENDING VARIOUS PROVISIONS OF
SPECIAL LICENSING ORDINANCES.
THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF ASHLAND DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Subpart E. of Section 2.48.010 of the Ashland Muni-
cipal Code shall be amended to change the license investigation
fee to $15.00 for each person investigated.
SECTION 2. Subpart A. of Section 6.08.030 of the Ashland Muni-
cipal Code shall be amended to read as follows:
"A. Application for a dance license shall be made to
the Police Department on the form provided by the Police
Department, at least fifteen (15) days before any dance
is scheduled to be held."
SECTION 3. A new subpart E. is hereby added to Section 6.08.030
of the Ashland Municipal Code and shall read as follows:
"E. The dance premises must be approved by the Fire
Marshal and must be in compliance with the local building
Code."
SECTION 4. Subpart C. of Section 6.08.030 of the Ashland Muni-
cipal Code shall be amended to read as follows:
"C. The findings of the investigation shall be forwarded
to the City Council. If the Council is satisfied with the
applicant's character and business responsibility, the
license shall be issued upon the license furnishing a
surety bond in the sum of five hundred dollars ($500.00),
conditioned on the faithful performance and conduct of
said licensee and his or her employees. Such bond shall
be payable to the City of Ashland."
SECTION 5. Section 6.12.020 of the Ashland Municipal Code shall
be amended to read as follows:
"6.12.020 License Required. It shall be unlawful for any
person, firm or corporation to own or operate a merchant
police business, or for a person to be employed as a merchant
policeman, except as provided and as authorized by this
Chapter, and without having first obtained license from the
City."
SECTION 6. The last sentence of Section 6.12.050 of the Ashland
Municipal Code shall be amended to read as follows:
"If additional persons are subsequently approved to operate
in the City of Ashland, an additional fee per person shall
be paid in accordance with Section 6.04.080 of this Code."
The foregoing ordinance was first read on the ~tJ~ day of
