Please note that on Table II a 35 year schedule is used with PP&L and we presently use a 50 year schedule with the City of Ashland. If the prices on these schedules are acceptable please notify this office and new schedules will be prepared and forwarded for execution. Also show any changes you may desire. Yours very truly, /Attachme t - - - CONSULTING ENGINEERS PHONE 772,7115 GOLDY BUILDING MEDFORD, OREGON 97501 August 23 , 1974 Brian Almquist , Administrator City of Ashland City Hall Ashland, Oregon - 97520 Re : PNWB - City of Ashland Joint Use Agreement Prices Dear Brian: Enclosed is the PNWB-PPL prices received from Jim De Young, PNWB, along with his letter of transmittal indicating that if we agree with these schedules he will prepare a set for sig- natures . I have enclosed a copy of the present schedule being used which is complete through 1971 . It appears as though prices increased about 14% from 1971 to 1972 , 8 to 10% from 1972 to 1973 and 22 to 24% from 1973 to 1974 . I think it would be to the advantage of the City to accept the PPL-PNWB Schedule , even though it is limited to 35 years . If we assume that the City of Ashland performs nearly 100 percent of the initial construction then 40% of the current price of a pole is paid to the City by PNWB on joint use. If in 10 years PNWB decides to remove its lines and sell their percent of the pole back to the City, under the PPL Schedule there would be no salvage valve and the remaining life on a 10 year 45 ' old pole would be $99 . 00 . Under the present City Schedule the price would be $120 . 00. The City would have to pay PNWB the higher value under the present agreement . The City and PNWB have fewer and fewer transactions per year under new agreements in which most of the new work is underground, however rebuilds , pole replacements are still involved. B. J. Krug should verify if the City was paid for the rebuild along the Klamath Falls highway when the new line was constructed or if any of the other new pole lines have been properly accounted for by PNWB. Brian Almquist, Administrator August 23 , 1974 Page Two We should set up a meeting if we want -to do something d-ifferent than suggested above by PNWB. Very truly yours , MARQU SS & MARQUESS L. S.
