BETWEEN
U. S. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE
FOREST SERVICE
AND
CITY OF ASHLAND
This memorandum docm~.ents the understanding between the U.S. Department
of Agriculture, Forest Service, Rogue River National Forest, through the
Forest Supervisor, hereinafter referred to as the Forest Service, and
the City of Ashland, Oregon, acting by and through its City Council,
hereinafter referred to as the City.
Whereas, the Forest Service and the City of Ashland entered into a Coop-
erative Agreement in 1929 for the purpose of conserving and protecting the
water supply of the City of Ashland, Oregon; and
Whereas, the Forest Service is responsible for multiple use land management
in the Ashland Creek Watershed; and
Whereas, the City needs to assess the management of the Watershed as a
prerequisite for issuance of a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination
System permit from the State Department of Environmental Quality;
Now, therefore to facilitate the assessment of the Ashland Creek Watersl~ed,
the Forest Service and City agree as follows:
The Forest Service participation in the assessment will be in the
form of supplemental staff time in support of the City's consultan~
in both field and office work in supplying and interpreting various
kinds of information concerning the Watershed.
Following completion, the City will provide the Forest Service with
a written report of their findings.

This Memorandum of Understanding may be terminated or sm]ended at any time
by mutual consent of the Forest Service and the City.
