AN ORDINANCE ADDING A NEW CHAPTER 2.2~ TO THE
MUNICIPAL CODE, ESTABLISHING AN ASHLAND AIR-
PORT COMMISSION.
THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF ASHLAND DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. A new Chapter 2.2~ is hereby added to the Ash-
land Municipal Code and shall read as follows:

2.2~.010 Established--Membership. There is hereby estab-
lishe~ Ashi~d Airp0r~ Commissfo~ ~hich shall consist of nine
(9) voting members, one of which shall be the Council person appointed
by the Mayor as liaison to the commission, and one non-voting ex-
officio member who shall be the Director of Public Works. The
voting members shall be appointed by the Mayor, with confirmation
by the City Council.
2.2S.020 Term--Vacancies. The term of eight of the voting
members shal~ be ~'or ~hree (3) years expiring on December 31 of
each year. The term of the Council liaison person shall be for
one year. Any vacancy shall be filled by appointment by the Mayor
with confirmation by the City Council for the unexpired portion
of the term. The terms of the initial eight members shall be two
for one (1) year, three for two (2) years, and three for three (3)
years, which shall be drawn by lot at the first meeting of the
commission after the adoption of this chapter. Their successors
shall be appointed to three (3) year terms.
2.2~.030 0~uuorum--Rules and Meetings. Five (5) voting
members of the do~n-{ssion shall constitute a quorum. The commiss-
ion may make rules and regulations for its government and procedure,
consistent with the laws of the State and City Charter and shall
meet at least once every thirty (30) days°
2.23.040 Powers and D~t~ep--Generally~ The powers and duties
of th~ Ashl~n-d Airport Commission shall be as follows:
A. To advise the Mayor and City Council on all matters relat-
ing to the management, operation, and further development of the
Ashland Airport.

B. To investigate Federal, State, County, and private
funding for airport improvements and in relation thereto the
requirement of City participation in financing.
C. To review and recommend project applications for
funding to the City Council.
2.2~.050 Reports. The Commission shall submit copies of
its minutes to the C'{¥y Council and shall prepare and submit
such reports as from time to time may be requested by the Mayor
and City Council.
2.2~.060 Compens~.q. ion. Voting members of the Commission
shall receive no compensation for services rendered. The
Commission may receive gifts, bequests, or devises of property
to carry out any of the purposes of this Chapter, which shall
be segregated from other funds for use by said Commission with
the approval of the City Council."
The foregoing Ordinance was first read on the /~z~ day of
