Commission0RD INANCE NO. /,~. ! ~ An ordinance amending Ordinance No. 10~9 which created the public recreation commission in the City of Ashland~ 0regon~ to fix the terms of the members of said commission and to provide for the filling of vacancies~ and declaring an emergency. THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF ASHLAND DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That Section i of Ordinance No. 10~9 be, and the same hereby is, amended as follows: "Section 1. That there is hereby established a public recreation commission which shall consist of five persons who shall serve without compensa- tion. The members thereof shall be appointed by the Mayor, subject to confirmation by the Council. The members of said commission shall serve for a three year term commencing with the 1st of January. The terms shall be overlapping terms. At the time of appointing the first commissioners one shall be appointed for three years, two for two years and two for one year, and thereafter upon the completion of the term of any of said commissioners, their replacements shall be appointed for a period of three years. In the event any vacancy occurs on the commission, the Mayor, subject to the confirmation of the Council, shall appoint a person to fill the unexpired term." Section 2. That inasmuch as the recreation commission has commenced activities for the summer recreation program and it is necessary to take care of the terms of members~ it is deemed necessary for the public peace~ health and safety of the citizens of Ashland that an emergency be, and the same is hereby, declared to exist, and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the Council and approval by the Mayor. The foregoing ordinance was duly passed~ under a suspension of -1- the rules, at a regular meeting of the Common Council held on the ~ day of ~ Ayes (~ , 1957, the vote being as follows: Nays Approved: To all of which I hereby certify: Recorder
