RESOLUTION NO. 9/-~
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ASHLAND ESTABLISHING AN AD HOC
TRANSPORTATION PLANNING ADVISORY COMMITTEE.
WHEREAS, the need to improve and coordinate the various means of
transportation for moving people from one part of thH City to
another is a subj ect for which regular planning is nE~eded; and
WHEREAS, the City currently has a number of different departmE~nts,
commissions, and committees involved in planning for various
aspects of transportation; and
WHEREAS, it is our belief that transportation planning could be improved by
a more holistic approach.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF ASHLAND AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That an ad hoc Transportation Planning Advisory Committee is
established, the purpose of which is to review the transporta1:ion planning
being done by various departments, commissions, and committees; to consider
problems of transportation not addressed by the various depar1:ments,
commissions, and committees; and to advise the City Council, 1the Community
Development Department and Planning Commission, and the Public Works
Department on plans for all aspects of transportation.
SECTION 2. That the Committee shall be made up of one represl~ntative from
the Traffic Safety Commission, one from the Bicycle Commission, one from
the Planning Commission, one from the City Council, and additional members
from the pUblic-at-large. The Committee members shall be appointed for
three-year terms by the Mayor, with the approval of the City Council.
SECTION 3. Staffing for the Committee shall be provided by the Community
Development Department and/or the Public Works Department.
SECTION 4. Authorization for this Committee shall terminate December 31,
1994 unless re-authorized by vote of the City Council.
The foregoing Resolution was READ and DULY ADOPTED on the 17t:Q day of
September, 1991.
