HomeMy WebLinkAbout1990-04 Transfer Center Levy RESOLUTION NO. 90-0~ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ASHLAND, ENDORSING A ONE-YEAR LEVY PROPOSED BY THE ROGUE VALLEY TRANSPORTATION DISTRICT TO PROVIDE FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A TRANSFER CENTER ON FIWNT STREET IN MEDFORD. WHEREAS, Rogue Valley Transportation District has acquired land in the Medford core area on the West side of Front Street between 8th and 10th Streets for the construction of a transfer center, and has acquired a Federal grant of $110,000 for use in construction of the center; and WHEREAS, the proposed levy of $670,000 will provide the additional funds necessary to construct the center; and WHEREAS, the present transfer point on Bartlett Street is no longer adequate to meet the needs of the transportation district and its patrons; and WHEREAS, the new transfer center is badly needed to alleviate undesirable conditions and to provide a convenient, comfortable and secure facility for the transfer of passengers. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASHLAND CITY COUNCIL as follows: SECTION 1. The Ashland City Council urges the voters living within the Rogue Valley Transportation District to vote "yes" on the one-year levy for capital construction proposed by Rogue Valley Transportation District at the special election on Tuesday, March 27, 1990.
