RESOLUTION NO. 90-24
A RESOLUTION APPROVING A RATE INCREASE FOR ASHU~ND
SANITARY SERVICE PURSUANT TO FRANCHISE ORDINANCE.
WHEREAS, the franchise granted to Ashland Sanitary Service requires
that increases in collection rates be first approved by the
City Council; and
WHEREAS, Ashland Sanitary Service was last granted an increase 24
months ago, and has experienced operating cost increases,
especially in landfill costs; and
WHEREAS, confidential profit and loss data has been provided to the
Council, indicating that the present collection rates do not
provide a reasonable rate of return to Ashland Sanitary
Service; and
WHEREAS, the proposed rates include a new landfill component of $5.75
per month for residential service and proportionate amounts
for commercial service which will be placed in 1:rust with
Jackson County for landfill operations and future closure
costs.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The rates for collection shall be as set forth in the
attached Exhibits "A" and "B", effective July 1, 1990.
SECTION 2. That the rates approved herein be reviewed after one (1)
year and may be decreased if landfill mitigation costs are less than
projected.
The foregoing Resolution was READ and DULY ADOPTED at a regular
meeting of the city Council of the City of Ashland on thE~ 5th day of
June, 1990.
