HomeMy WebLinkAbout2953 Tenant Rights ORDINANCE NO. r.;.C\ 10'6 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ASHLAND MUNICIPAL CODE, CHAPTER 10.115, TENANTS RIGHTS, AMENDING SECTION 10.115.080, RELATING TO FINES. WHEREAS, it is necessary for consistency with the Ashland City Charter to amend the maximum fine prescribed for violations of Ashland Municipal Code 10.115.080 Section B. THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF ASHLAND DO ORDAIN AS FOllOWS: SECTION 1. Section 10.115.080 is hereby amended to read as follows: B. The fine for violation of any provision of this Chapter shall be $500.00 for each unit affected, excluding any required state and local assessments. SECTION 2. Severability. The sections, subsections, paragraphs and clauses of this ordinance are severable. The invalidity of one section, subsection, paragraph, or clause shall not affect the validity of the remaining sections, subsections, paragraphs and clauses. SECTION 3. Codification. Provisions of this Ordinance shall be incorporated in the City Code and the word "ordinance" may be changed to "code", "article", "section", or another word, and the sections of this Ordinance may be renumbered, or re-Iettered, provided however that any Whereas clauses and boilerplate provisions (Le. Notwithstanding the fino limitations of AMC Section 1.08.020, Ithe fine for violation of any provision of this Chapter shall be a minimum of $500.00 $1000.00 for each unit affected, excludinQ any required state and local assessments. If the violation is a failure to pay the relocation benefit or prohibited harassment or frustration of tenant's rights and the offender is a corporation or other business entity, thon an additional special corporate fine shall be imposed, in addition to the minimum fine, equal to an amount Mice the relocation assistance amount unlawfully withheld.
