The Council met in regular session at 7:30 P. M. this date. Present: Mayor Wiley,
Councilmen Applewhite# Blake, Crandall, Hansen, Ingle # Koozer. Absent: None.
The minutes of the previo!ls meetings 'Were read and approved as read.
The monthly report of the Dump Ground for October was read, accepted and ordered
placed on file.
Bills amounting to $11, 538.01 were read as to total amolmt only, same having been
oked by the various departments and tre Finance Committee and upon motion by Ingle,
seconded by Blake and followed by a. unanimous roll ca.ll were ordered paid.
An application for a Class B Package License by F. H. Pearson at 39 Bastf Main
street was presented and upon motion by Blaie, seconded by Ingle was approved.
Committee Reports:
Street: The building hazard existing during the cons"bruction of the New Varsity

The request of W. C. Polk owner of the Ashland Mill.:J/J 'to reduce his annual reni; to
the city frolu $50.00 to $25 .00 per year was upon motion by Hansen, s eoonded by Koozer
referred to the Realty Committy for investigation.
Taleht Irrigation Dis triet. A supplementary agreement with the Talent Irrigation
Distriat designed to reduce the cost of operation and maintenance of irrigation ditches
to the City of Ashland was read by t1:>> City At-torney and following considerable dis-
cussion. it was moved by Blake and seconded by Koozer thai; t1:e agreement be approved.
Carried.
Relief: Captain Durham of the Salvation Army at Medford was present am requested
the use of the old Helping Hand Mission on 4th Street for caring fer -transients and some
assistance from tm city. It was moved by Blake and seconded by Ingle that the Mayor
appoint a committee to work wi t11 Cap'i; Durham on this matter. Carried. The Mayor appoint-
ed ~ following as a oonunittee. C. P. Talent" chairman, G. T. Applewhite~ anl Mrs. Sam
B. MoNair of the Red Cross. .
A request for a sewer having been received froTa. C. N. Caton who was oonstruoting
a new garage on the Pacific Highway, just beyond the Rush Service Station, the matter
was discussed and referred to the City Superintendent for investigation.
A req)lest from a Mr. Hubbard,who was purchasing property on tb3 Boulevard just
beyond the old Hatoher Greenhouse on Palm Avenue for the purpo se of constructing an
auto court, to permit the cutting of the park row in front 01' his place in order to
allow car s entering from the south to drive direotly in, instead of going beyond to the
next turning point, brought out oonsiderable discussion resulting in the motion by
Koozer , seconded by Ingle that tls City Attorney write a ve~ tactful letter to Mr.
