Hansen" Ingle, Koozer. Absen't: None, The monthly report of the Recorder was read but approval deferred until 'the re'turn of 'the Recorder -to more fully explain certain parts of the report. It was moved by Koozer and seconded by Applewhite that the City Treasurer be re- quired hereafter to submi't a monthly report. Ca.rried. Regular mon'thly reports of the E~.ctric, street and Wa.ter Depa.r1znents and the Librarian were read" accepted and ordered placed on file. It was moved by Applewhite andseconded by Crandall that the Chamber of Commerce be paid $75.00 out ot the advertising expense funi for expenses incurred in putting on the barbecue at the Siskiyou Highway Celebration. Carried. Application far the follo~ng building permit was presented: No. 31. To erect business building on Bast Main Street just beyond Fortmi1ler's Store at an approximate cost of $5.000.00 by -the Ashland Tilings. It was moved by Koozer and seconded by Applewhite tha-t the permit be granted. Carried. Co~ttee Reports: Electric: The possibility of securing insuranoe on theElectric Light plant in case the machinery was destroyed was referred "to the Electric Committee on motion by Ingle, seoonded by Applewhite and carried. Fire: Hansen reported that 'the committee was still inspeoting new fire engines. Street: The ma-tter of installing a storm sewer !'rom tm oorner of Pioneer Avenue to 'the New Varsity Theatre and Tidings Building on East Main Street was brought up by Koozer and disoussed. It was moved by Koozer and seoonded by Crandall ths-t 'the storm sewer be installed at an estimated cos't of $300.00. Roll call was ordered on tn, motion. the vote being Ayes: Blake. Ingle, Crandall, Hanse., Koozer, Applewhi'te. Nays: None. Carried. Realty: Ingle reporwd that he had contac'ted Mr. W. C. Polk relative to tie reni; on 'thr Ash181ld Mill property on Water Street and following some disoussion. it was moved by Crandall am seconded by Hansen tha't the lease be re'duced under oral agree- ment from $50.00 to $40.00 for t n:, ourren't year. Carried. The City Superintendent reported tha't 'the California Oregon Power Co. had requested a right away in front of 'the airport property for their light poles near the new highway. It was moved by Crandall andseo~nded by Ingle that the right of way on or in front of 'the fence line be granted. Carried. Af*er oonsiderable disoussion, the ma't-ter of righ't of way for the Li thia Pipe Line 'through the Damon land was referred to the City Superintendent am City A'ttorney for more nego'tiation. The City Superintenden't repor-md that the Caton sewer matter was being delayed until the S-btte Board of Education would meet to pass on the Southern Oregon Normal School's portion of the sewer. It was moved by Koozer andseconded by Applewhite 'that upon approval from the S1;a:te Board of Eduoation, 'the sewer project would be immediately s-tar-ted.
