Absent. Councilman Ingle. The minutes of 'the previous meeting were read and approved as read. The montluy reports of the Electric, Wa~er and S~eet Departments and ~he Lib- rarian, City Judge and Ci~ Reoorder were read, acoepted and ordered placed on file. A b ill for travelling expenses totalling .93.80 tor the delegation from Ashland attending the annual convention ot the League of Oregon Ci ties ~d the Oregon Finance 11'f'icerl Association at The DaIle a,' Oregon, Uay 2nd and 3rd, was upon motion made and seconded and following a unanimous rel1 oall,ordered paid. An applioation for an additional liquor license was presented by A. C. Bininger end upon motion by Koozer, seconded by Applewhite. the application was approved wi'th no additional tee for investigation being required. Carried. Committee Reports. Finance a It was reported that the Pompa.dour Minera.l Springs proper1;y we.s now clear and ready for purchase trom the Sta-te Banking Department. Fire. Hansen suggested -that the old tire truck be kept and used for grass tires etc, liiiitead of selling it to the Town of Talent. S'treeta Koozer discussed Dr. Haines drive way problem at the Medioal Arts Bldg. A read drive was suggested. Upon motion by Koozer, seconded by Crandall, the paving of 'two block en S.uth Seoond Street was a.pproved. Carried. The City Attorney read the agreement covering this paving. Real ty. It was reported that Charles Lindsay wanted to but the city lot en Wator Street, being part of lot 6, Block 15, Original Town for the purpose ot build- ing a shingle mill. It was moved by Blake that the matter be referred to the Realty Cqwd ttee with power to act. Seconded by Hansen. Ca.rried. L. J. Knox, C. Jr'. A., Medford presented hil report of the Auditor the City ot Ashland for the year 1937 and stated that he would like to discuss the report at a. luncheon given to the Mayor end Council by himsi~t at some suitable time. This was set for Tuesday noon, J~~e 7th. Mr. A. L. Coggins representing a delegation of property owners on Granite St8eet spoke asking that Granite street be paved with oil and granite, trom curb to curb or thirty teet wide and from Strawberry Lane south to the end. The estimated cost by using the Coun17.f equipment and granite from Pex-.8s1 t s was ro I per running toot for ene side or 40; for both sides of the street, or approxL~tely $920.00 for 2300 ft. Louis Didge, representing the Park Commission, also R. E. Detrick spoke concern- ing the project. Ray Clary and Frank Jordan a1 so spoke in favor of it. Following some discussion. it was moved by Koozer and seconded by Elake that the City approve the projeO't provided the Park Commission ende~s to pay the City an amount not to exoeed $500.00. Roll call was ordered on themotion. the vote being Ayes;Blake, Crand- all, Hansen. Koozer, Applewhite. Nays: None. Ordinanoes & lesolutions: A proposed ordinanoe levying special benefit assessments against properties benefited by the construction of a sewer in Sewer District No. 40 was read by the Ci ty Attorney. It was moved by App1 ewhi te and seconded by Koozer that the rules be suspended and the ordinanoe be passed to the second reading by title only. Carried. Following the second reading, it was moved by Koozer and seconded by Blake that the ordinanoe be adopted as read. Roll call was erdered on its adoption. the vote being Ayes I Blake, Crandall, Hansen. Koozer, Applewhite. Bays: None. Thereupon the Mayor declared City Ordinance No. 985 adopted. May 17. 1938 1'0. 14 A proposed ordirJlmce authorizing the issuance of Ci1iy Improvemen-b Bonds in the matter of laying a sewer in what has been designa1ied as Sewer Dis'b-ict No. 40 was read. It was mo.ved by Blake and seconded Koozer that the rules be suspended 8.nd the ordinance be passed to the second reading by title only. Carried. Following tle second reading. it 'WaS moved by Blake and secomded b~{ Hansen that the ordinanoe be adopted as read. Roll ca,ll was ordered on its adoption, the vote being Ayes; Blake. Crandall. Hansen. Koozer. Applewhite Ways: None. !hereupon the Mayor declared Ci'bJ Ordinance No. 986 adopted. Reports of the annual meeting of the League of Oregon Cities and the Oregon Finance Officers t ASBociat.ion were made by the City AttorlWY and City Reoorder respeo- tively. The City Recorder reported that he had been elected President of the Oregon Finance Officers' A.ssocie.tion for tile coming Y681.. Planning: ~. question of restricted distriots in the city were discussed and the matter was referred to 'the Ple.nning Commission.
