Blake, Crandall, Hansen" Ingle, Koozer. Absent. None. The minutes of the previous meeting ware read and approved as read. Jion'thly reports of the City Judge and City Dump Ground" the quarterly report or the Cemetery and semi-annual repwt of the Polioe Department were read" aooepted and ordered placed on file. Billa amounting to $8.798.89 were read as to total amount only 81lI1le having been .ked by the various departments, oommittees and the tinanoe committee and upon _tio1\ by Blake duly aeoonded and following a unAnimous roll call were ordered paid. . P. R. Hardy representing the Ashland Chamber of COImlltrce spoke conoerning the Neon signs Whioh had bean considered and costing as tollo~J Lithia Water .155.00. Mountain Water $133.30 and 'two big signs t495.40or e. total cost ot .,83.'70. Following some discussion, it was moved by Koozer that the purohase of the bigs signs tor .495.40 be authorized. It was moved by Ingle and seoonded by Blake that the permits be granted subjeot to building regulations. Carried. A letter trom K. T. Burns ooncerning fleet insuranoe which expires August 18th was reterred to the finanoe committee upon motion by Ingle, seoonded by Blake and oarried. Upon motion by Crandall, seoonded by Hans e:a"authorization was given to pave streets subjeot to the provisions ot the Banoroft Act when requested by petition of property owners owning the majortty of trontages on these st:r.eets. Carried A letter from Will W. Wood asking permission to turn over his lease to Mrs. Nilns was read. He also wanted to turn over to the Ci1;y"hospital equipment belonging to him- self amounting to $457.50 Upon motion by Kooser, acceptance or the transfer of the lease was reterred to the Realty Commi ~e" also terms to be worked out for the aew leasee, with power to aot:. Sewer: Biegel reported tha1; the Curtis Auto Camp wanted to oonneot with the oi"by aewer system. and that Curtis was willing to pay the neoessary .ost of doing so whioh was estimated at $600.00. suggested It was meved by Kooser that Ourtis be perm! t-ted to conneat. and Crandali!that a provision be made to ba ve the oi ty I1m1 t8 extended in order to have Curtis oome within tIB oity limi'ts. The matter or extension being plaoed on tbt ballot. With this amendment to the motion" it was seoonded by IJagle and oarried following a lI1'18nim:>u8 roll call. The oonstruotion of a lenr Iystem on Emerick Street was brought up by Biegel and upon motion by Kooser" seoonded by Blake, prelin1nary work was authorized. street. Kooler reported on his oontact with A. L. Coggins relative to putting a 16 foot alley between that place and A. G. Li ring stone t s residence. The matter of baok light and water bills against Coggins was discussed and the City Superintendent authorized to ,rooeed to collect aame upp1'1 metion by KOoser" ..conded by Blake and unanimously oarried. Biegel brought the sewer system under the Nazarene Churoh up tor disoussion and following a disoussion of same" it was moved by Kooser and seconded by Blake that the City Superintendent be authorized to pr$oeed with the work. Carried. Ingle spoke on 'the oonditions at -the hospi'tal and the oauses thererore. The subjeotJ .f earwigs _s disoulsed and the City Recorder was instruoted te write to Portland tor quotations.
