Counoilmen Blake, Ingl~. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read. G. H. Wenner representing the Casoade-Wonderland Ass 'n made his report.. ltating that the County wae{f going to oontribute $100.00 ani asked the oity for a like amount. It previously having been agreed upon" it was meved 'by Kooser and seoonded by Apple- white that the oity pay .100.00, same to be made out of the advertising aocount of the Eleotrio Fund. Roll oall was ordered on the motio.. the vote being Ayes J Crandall, Han- .e., Kooser" Applewhite. Nays: None. Carried. Monthly reports of the Eleotric, Street, Water, Library, Dwap Ground" City Judge and City Reoorder were read, aooe~d andordered placed on file. Bills amounting to $17,420.46 were read as to total amoumts only, same having been oked by the various department heads, eommdttees and finanoe committee and uppn motion duly made and seconded were ordered paid. The following applioation for a building permit was presented. No. 31. To remodel dwelling at 787 Iowa Street at an approximate eost of $350.00. by E. C. Biegel. It was moved by Koozer and seconded by HIplsen that the permit be gran'b- ed. Carried. CemmitteeReports. Finance: Th-. purohase of $10.000 Ashland Water Bonds aoquired by E. M. Ad8Il8 & Co. for the oi ty was disoussed and the possibility of selling our government bonds to pro- vide funds for same was oonsidered~ but no action take1th~ the tim.e. Electric. Crandall s"bated that about 5,,000 Ibs o~rtl):.e were required and asked per- mission to purchase same. It was moved by Crandall and seconded by App 1 ewhi te that the purohase be authorized. Carried. (f' Notification that Oc"b.. 14th had been set to meet with representatives of the Cal... Oregon POlver Co. to discuss the re-newalf of the present oontraot was made. Fire I Hansen reported that the new Amerioan La-Franoe Fire Engine had passed the underwri ters te st on Sept. 28th. It was moved by Applewhite an.d seconded 'by Hansen that the City accept the fire truck as per the report of the Insuranoe Rating Bureau. Carried. It was reported that G. S. Butler had offered the Camps Building to the City for $4.500.00 with a down payment and 4% interest on the balance. Hansen suggested the inspevtion of the building first for fire department purposes. Liquor permi t~ It was reported that a Mr. Klinger had taken over the Blue Bird~ - formerly operated by Joe Samuelson(deoeased) and desired a liquor permit. It was moved by Applewhite, seoonded by Hansen that the application, subjeot to the approval of the Chief of Police be granted. Carried. Zoning. Upon motion, by Applewhite, seconded by Koozer" the report on the Herman Mattern propertJr on Hargadine Street was referred to the Fire Committee. the Fire Chief and City Suporintendent. Crandall reported that the ohurch on East ~~in and Fifth Streets had been wrecked and the fotID.dation left very unsightly. The City Attorney im.ti instruoted to wri -be them a letter regarding same. Fourth Street and t116 possibility of selling same was discussedo The question of salaries for t he budget for 1939 was di scussed and it was moved by Koozer that the budget 'be set at the present salaries with all employees exoept E. C. Biegel who should have e. raise of '15.00 per month. Seoonded by Applewhite. During the disoussion, Crandall suggested that the Recorder be given $6.00 per month and Biegel $10.00 per month .aise. Roll oall was ordered on the original motion, the vote being. Nays: Crandall. Hansen} Ayes.Koozer, Applewhite.
