The Cotmcil met in regtuex session at 7130 P. M. this date. Presents Mayor Wiley,
Councilman Applewhite, Blake, Crandall, Hansen, Koozer. Absent. Councilmn Ingle.
The minu'tes of t..~e previous meeting were read ani approved as read.
Mon-thl~y rerorts of the Electric, Water and street Departments, the Libre.tian and
City Recorder were read, accepted and ordered placed on file.
A bill from Pro1ros1:; Bros, amounting to $12.26 was presen4;p.d and upon motion by
Applewhite, seconrle~ ~y Bl8:ke was ordered paid.
Application for the following building per.mi~ was presented:
Noo 33. To erect new dwelling at 1030 Henry street at an approxirraye cost of
$500.00. It was moved by Hansen and seconded by Blake that the permit be granted.
Carried.
Mrso Mary R. Freeman spoke concerning the condition due to water seepage near the
Fewll! property and the matter was referred to the street Department for attention.
Ben Gibson representing the California Western States Life Insurance Company
presented the plan of their company for group accident and sickn.ess berefits for city
employees and was gi,ron the privilege of soliciting city employees for enrollment in
the plan.

Upon motion by Crandall~ seconded by Blake, the bids were referred to the Mayor
and Chief of Police vii th power to act. Carried.
A letter concerning the Safety Council's reco~mendetions for a bicycle ordinance
was read and upon motion by Koozer, seconded by Blake, the !DB..tter was referred to the
Chief of Police and City Attorney for recommendations. Carried.

Fire: Bieg'el roported on the heavy concrete wall of the present fire station and
sta.tedt'ha.t it-"ould be replaced with a wooden wall covered with metal or else stlilceo
with metal lath. Plans for remodelling the present fire station were shown aiso.
Water: Biegel reported -that the following bids he.d been accepted for pipe, ve.l ves,
and hydrants following the opening of bids on Nov. 9th.

Medfcrd Concrete Construction Co.
Biegel reported that G. S. Butler and others 1vanted a seVier on Iowa Street from
Wightman street and it was moved by Dlfke and seconded by Applewhite that the City
Superintendent be authorized to advertise for sewer construction there. Carried.
Realty: A party wantinp: to use the Lithia Springs property for pasture had offered
to fix up thefence if the City would furnish $10.00 worth of wire. The matter was diseUSE
,ed, but dusapproved, it being oonsidered better to fence ca~tle ou~ of the springs
tr..an to fence them in, if any fencing wa s to be done.
Hospital: Having been reported that 14 of the old mB,ttresses at ~he hospital needed
renove.ting which would oo~t at the ra.te of $54000 for 6 mattresses, it was decided to
try the prooess on 6 of them upon motion by Applewhite, seoonded by Blale end unanimous-
ly carried.

The abstract of Votes having been received from the County Clerk co'vering the
eleotion held on November 8, 1938~ it was moved by Blake and seconded by H~sen that
the Council resolve itself into a canvassing board and canvas the votes cast. It was
oarried and following the canvas, it was moved by Applewhite and seconded by Ble.ke that
the official count be accepted. Carried.
