The Council met in regular session at 7.30 P. M. this date. Present: Mayor Wiley,
Councilmen Applewhite, Car-son,Crandall, Delsman, Koozer, Tayler. Absent: None
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved e.s read. _
Mon1:;hly reports of the Water, Street, and Electric Departments and Ci'bJ Reco'rder
for the month of February were read, 'accepted and ordered placed on fil e.
The following applications for byilding permits were presented:
No.7: To build new gare.ge at 665 East Main Street at an approximate cost of
$200.00 by N. E. Taylor.
No.8: To remodel dwelling at 167 Garfield street at an approximate cost ,of $100.00
by J. A. Sewell.
No.9: To erect new service station at corner of Third and East Main Streeta at an
approximate cost of $9,665.00 by J. D. Mars.
It was movefl by'Tayler and seconded by Carson that the permits be granted. Carried.
A petition concernini; s.nd protesting against e. cesspool on property at southeast
corner of Iowa and Wightman Streets, signed by fourteen residents was read and referred
to the street Committee for action. .
A letter concerning the price of infested earwiEs ~~s read and the Recorder was
instructed to write the Oregon State ~ollege as to the effectiveness of these infested
earwigs in combating this menace.
A lengthy report from Gordon Claycomb concerning his acti~rities in advertising
the City of Ashland was read.
C. E. Corry showed plans for improving the Plaza and the matter was discussed.
Corry agreed to figure costs of same and present to the council at an early dtte.
A letter from Wm M. Briggs concerning; the we. tar rates to the Bell view Co-opera ti ve
Water Ass'nwas read and upon motion by Crandall, seconded by Carson was referred to
the Watijr Committee for study.
A letter from Kenneth Denman~ attorney at law concerning a contemplated protest
by the new owners of the old Harley Dunn place, consisting of 1500 acres~ if the city
dump ground ~re moved to that looality ~ read. and discussed briefly.
Upon motion by Applewhite, seconded by Delsman, the fol,l~ng adjustments and
transfers were authorized.
Deposits transfered to delinque:nt e.ccounts $5T. 60. Adjustments to active accounts
$12.50. Delinquent accounts transfered to inactive accounts,.69~.55.

street: Koo zer reported that the request for a traffic lane m.ear Lane's Store had
. been denied, since it would establish a b(d precedent. The Congregational Church pro-
perty agreement having been drawn up, it was moved by Koozer andseconded by Delaman
that the Mayor and Reoorder be authorized to execute the agreement in the name of the
City of Ashland. Roll call was ordered and the motion was unanimously carriedo
Realtyt Garson reported that the Talent site had been considered the best location
for the dump, ground andthe Beeson site next best and recommended wm Ross & Sons~ Van
Curler~ and Beeson in the order~ed. Following some discussion, it was moved by Carson
and seconded by Koozer that the franchise be given wm Ross & Sons for a period of
three years acoording to the specttications as published and an ordmnance drawn, Roll
Call was ordered on the motion which was unanimously carr ied.
Following some discussion on a proposed bicycl~ ordi~ance, it was moved by Delaman
that the City Attorney and Chief of Police draft the proposed ordinance. Seconded and
oarried unanimously. -
