A.bsents Councilman Tayler The minutes of the previous meeting were read aDd appro'Ved as reado' Monthly reports o' 'the Electric. Water aDd Street Departments and City Recorder were read, accepted and ordered placed on file. As the Cemetery Tnsi; Fund showed a balance of over $1.000.00, it _s recoimnended that the amount be invested in govern- ment bonds or postal savings it possible, upon motion by Crande.ll~ seconded and carried. The report of Viewers appointed to determine and assess the speoial benefits accruing to the several pieces and paroels or land affected by the const.ruction of sewers in Sewer Diartricts 1'0. 43 and 44 was read and it was moved and seconded by Kooser and Crandall that the report be accepted aDd same be published. Carried. A letter from the League of Oregon Cities enclosing a check for $5.73 as a rebate on fire hose purchas ed was reed. The matter of deeding baok the :Mission Building to G. S. Bu1ller and D. Perozsi was disoussed aDd in view of the fact that the City had expended a considerable sum of money in repairing same, it was thought that 'the City should be entitled to a portion of the salvage value in the building and upon motion by Ioo&er. seconded by Crandall, the City Attomey was instructed to oompromise -the matter. Carried. The report of the oommittee on obscene literature was read. !h1s report recolllnelid- ed the passage of an ordinance of the 'type recoDlended by the League of Oregon Cities. It was moved by looser that the recommendation be accepted and the City Attorney in- S'truoted to draft suoh an ordinance. Seconded and car ried. !he oondi tion of the atreet at 625 Liber'ty Street was reported and same referred to the Street Department. . City Sup''t; Biegel reported that there 'WOuld be no more hauling of logsonlutley Street this summer. He also repor'ted tb8.t 40.000 intested earwigs would be required to oontroll the earwig problem in Ashland aooording to the sUrvey _de by Mr. L. G. Seoonded by Crandall. Carried. . . A resolution authorizing a gerbage franchise agreement with Dewey Van Curler _8 read. It was moved by Carson and seconded by Kooser that the rules be suspended and the resolutlorl be passed to the seoond reading by title only. Carr~ed. Following the second reading, it was moved by A.pplewhite and seconded by Delsman that the resolution be adopted as read. Roll oa.11 was ordered on its adiption am following a unanimous roll call. the Mayor declared the resolution adopted. A resolution proposing an amendment to the Charter of "the City of Ashlam auth- orizing the purohase of the Ashland Golt Club property was read. It was moved by Kooser that the rules be suspended and the resolution passed to theseoond reading by title only. Seoonded by A.pplewhite. Carried. Following the.' second reading, it was mJved by Applewhite that the resolution be adopted as read. Seoonded by Carson. Roll call was ordered on 1 ts adoption and following a unanimous roll call. the Mayor deolar- ed the resolution adopted.
