Absent. Mayor lilley, Counoilman Koozer. The minutes of 'the previous meeting were read and approved 8.8 read. Monthly reports of the Ilectric, Water and Street Departments.. Librarian and City Recorder were read, accepted and ordered placed on file. The City Attorney read a memorandum ooncerning the future operation of the golf oourse for1he consideration and study of the oouncil. A pet! tion having been reoei ved requesting "the oil pavement of Liberty Street, it was moved by Carson and seconded by randall that notioe of intent to pave be published. o Carried. A petition having been reoeived requesting the oil pavement of Allison Street.. it was moved by Tayler and seconded by Carson that notice of intent to pave be published. Carried. The time having arrived for the hearing on the Nutley Street pavement, it was moved by Delsman and seconded by Crandall that the resolution authorizing its construct- ion, which had been read, be passed to the second reading by title only, the rules being suspended. Carried. Following !he second reading, it was moved by Tayler and seconded by Carsen that the resolution be adopted as read and following a unanimous roll call, the acting-mayor declared the resolution adopted. The hearing on the Iowa Street pavement was the next in order, aM it was moved by :A:ayler and seconded by HIIIHJ Crandall that the resolution authorizing its construction whioh had been read, be passed to the second reading by title only, the rules being suspended. Carried. Following the seoond reading, it was moved by Tayler andseeonded by Carson that the resolution be adopted as read.. and following a unanimous roll oall, the actiqg-mayor deolared the resolution adopted. The lfepprts of the boardof viewers on the Sixth Street, Nob Hill and Alida Street curb andgutters were read. It _s moved by Crandall andseooded by Delsman that the viewers reports be approved. Carried. Mr. Li-twiller, President of the Chamber of Commerce addressed the oouncil on the subjeot of employing Boy Scouts to assist in the final census.count of the oity and fol~ lowing some discussion, it was JlOved by Tayler and secondod by Crandall that '3i.OO for expenses of the count be authorized to be paid out of the Chamber of Commeroe allowance. Carried. A letter from the Roseburg Fire Chief requesting the presenoe of member. of 'the Ashland Fire Department at the State Convention at Roseburg was roferred -to the Fire Committee with power to act. Applewhite brough't up the .9 of a mil on the eounty budget for county bridges &nd discussion followed conoerning contaoting the OOtmty tor e. portion of this money for the repair of bridges over Bear Creek. Biegel reported a cost of about $65 to .70 tor the repair of the Chautauqua Bldg and lt was JDOved by Carson and seoonded bj Tayler that the expenditure be authorized. Roll call was ordered on the motion with the following result. Ayes. Carson" Delsman, :A:ayler. Hays, Crandall. Carried.. . Davis, Street Sup't reported on ohanges in street names where more than one name applied to the same street and an ordinance to correot same was authorized. Upon motion by Tayler, seconded by Delsman, the subjeot of lockers tor the band uniforms was referred to the Band Committee with power to aot. Carried.
