HomeMy WebLinkAbout1940-0716 REG MIN July 16, 1940 No. 23. The Counvil met in regular session at '1:30 P. M. this date. Present: Mayor Wiley Councilmen Applewhite.. Carson, Delsman, Koozer.. Tayler. Absent: Cotnlcilman Crandall. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read. Mr. Norby, Ci~ Suptt of Schools, was present and asked the City's co-operation in seouring the vacation of certain portions of streets in the Phillips' lots, reoently seoured and located near the High School athletic field. Following discussion, it was moved by Applewhite and seconded by Delsman that the City advertise the vacation of a portion of Eaeriei street. Carried. Monthly reports of the Electric" Water and Street Departments.. Librarian and City Recorder were read.. aoo epted am ordered placed on fi Ie. Upon motion by Koozer, seoonded by Delsman, the study of new electric rates was started. Car ried. A bill for $10.00 to R. A. Minkler for damage to a shed was ordered Paid upon motion by Carson, seconded by Tayler and carried. The following applications for builfing permits were presented. No. 23: To construot service station near 476 North Mair~ Street at an approx~te cost of $2,000 by the Craig Oil Company. No. 24: To erect oleaning plant at 823 Boulevard at an approxim.ate cost of $400.00 by B. F. Craig. Q Water I Applewhite spoke regarding 'the $10.00 per acre rate for irrigation water and following some discussion. it was moved by Applewhite and seconded by Carson tha't the recommendation of the City Attorney be accepted and he b,,- instructed to draw up 8.1l ame11dment to the ordimnce affecting irrigation, Carried. Street. The placing of stop signs on such streets as East Main Street and Iowa Street was discussed and upon motion by DelsmBnjl seconded by Applewhite, the City Superintendent 118. s instructed to put up these stop signs. It was reported that the State Highway Department would now paint traffic lanes twice a year in the ci ty e - leal ty: Garbage service rates of .50 per month for one pick up per week and .75, per month for 'two pick ups per week were discussed. Van Curler stated he felt he should get tl.OO for two pick-ups per week and following some disoussion.. the City Attorney read a proposed resolution changing the rates accordingly. It was moved by Applewhite and seoonded by Delsman that t~e rules be suspended and the resolution passed to the second reading by title Onlee Carried. Following the seoond reading, it was moved by Appleirhi te and seoonded by arson that the resolution be adopted as read aDd following a unanimous rollcall, the Mayor deolared the resolution adopted. The purohase of a new range for the hosp! tal was approved upon motion by Carson, seconded by Applewhite and carried.
