HomeMy WebLinkAbout1940-1001 REG MIN Oct. 1, 1940. No. 31 The Council met in regular session at 7 :30 Pl M. this date. Ptesent: Mayor Wiley, Councilmen Applewhite.. Carson.. Crandall.. Koozer.. ayler. Absent: Councilman DelsIlfUl. Minutes of the previous meeting were read ana approved as read. The monthly report of tm City Judge for September was read, accepted and ordered placed on file. Bills amounting to $11,518.87 were read as to total amountfonly, same having been oked by the various departuents , committee s and finance commi t'tee am were ordered f8id. The toll~wing applications for building permits were presented: No. 41: To erect new dwelling at 120 High Street at an approximate cost of $4,000.00 by Earl T. New-bry. No. 42: To remodel dwelling at 1101 Boulevard at an approximate cost of $400.00 by F. L. ~son. No. 43: To remodel dwelling at 922 Boulevard at an approximate cost of $1,000.00 by Major Ellis by H. V. Nidever. No. 44: To repair ani'd. remodel dwelling at 645 Liberty street at an approximate cost of $200.00 by Mrs. Carroll by O. B. Turner. It was moved by Carson and s eoonded by Tayler that the perm! ts be granted. Carried. The acceptanoe of' the bid of the Feenau&h'ty Machinery Company for the cement mixer a-t $425.00 less $86.UO on old mixer or $345000 end the purohase of e. carload of: poles from -the L. D. McFarland Company for $986055 was approved upon motion made, second.. ad and carried. Commi t-tee Reports: S-treet: Davis.. Street Sup't brought up the necessity of issuing warning concerning the dumping of leaves where they would get into sewers and upon mo-tion by Crandall, seconded by Koozer, the publioation of a notioe by the Mayor .and then the Chief' of ~olice if neoessary concerning the matter was approved. Carried. The appointment if vi~rs for the Liberty, Iowa and Nutley Street oil pavements was announced as f'o 1lows: F. H. WALKER, GUY EVANS, CLARENCE LANE. Realty:Upon motion by Applewhite. seconded by Koozer, the..pulling out and burning of a diseased orchard at the air port was referred to the Realty Committee with power to act. Carriedo The City Recorder was authorized to advise the County Clerk that 'the Ci ty o~ Ashland was not interested in properties referred to in letters dated Sept. 17 and 3uth, ., n 111'\ Oct. 1, 1940 conttd No. 31 Fire: 'The"lot at the corner of First and "CtI Streets as a location for e new fire station was referred to the Fire Commi-ttee for investigation.
