The Council met in regular session at 7:30 P. M. this date. Present: Mayor Wiley,
CounciL~en Applewhite.. Carson.. Crandall. Absent: Councilmen Dels~~', Koozer.. ~ayler.
Monthly reports of the Librarian and City Judge w~re read, accepted and ordered
pJa ced on file.
Bills amo'..,rr:tL'!-b to $13,807.87 were read as to total amount only, s~ne having
been oked by the various departments. comrnittee~ and finance committee and upon motion
by Crandall seconded by Carson and following a unanimous roll call were ordered paid.
The following applications for building permits were presented:
No. 49: To erect chicken house at 500 Ashland Street at an approximate cost of
$250.00 by Mrs. W. W. Bell.
No. 50: To re~roof Swedenburg Bldg at 299 East Main Street at an approxi~te cost
of of $225000 by J. Dexter Woodworth
No. 51: To re-roof bldg at 242 East Main Street at an approxL.a te cost of $125.00
By J. Dexter Woodworth.
It was moved by Carsmn and seconded by Applewhite that t he pernuits be granted.

A petition presented by Nor.man Kerr asking that a portion of Bush Street between
Almond andScenic Dr-ive now 50 feet wide be re-classified as an alley and made approxi-
I1l8.tely 16 feet in width thru center of pre sent_ street and land so vacated revert to
adjoining property owners. It was moved by ~arson that the matter be referred to
the Street Conmdttee to investigate and report back. Seconded by Crandall. Carried.
A petition requesting that a section of land in the city located generally above
Siskiyou Boulevard between the Normal School and Morton Street be restrioted and
designated as a residential district signed by some 34 residents was presentedo It
was moved by Crandall and seconded bYcApplewhite that the petition be referred to the
Realty Committee for recommendation. arried. .
Time having arrived for the hearing on the Viewer's reports for the oiling of
Liberty.. Iowa and Nutley Streets and as several present objected to the cost thereof
on Liberty Street and as the actual petitions were not avail~ble. it was decided to
defer the hearing until the next council meeting on Nov. 19t~._ upon motion by Carson,
seconded by Crandall andcarried.
On motion by Crandall.. the Recorder was instructed to notify the ~oun~ Clerk
that the City of Asijland was not interested~in properties referred to in letters dated
Oct. 18.. 26. and Nov. 1.. 1940. Seconde<< By arson. Carried.
Committee Reports:

reported.,
Upon motion bY Crandall, the report of the li'ire Committee as to the suitability of
the lot at First ani "C" Streets fora fire station was accepted and purchase of' the
lot approved. Seconded by Carson. Carried.
P. R. Hardy, representir..g the AshlaI'l-Ci Golf Course spoke requesting the expenditure
of about $400.00 for repairs 1;0 roof, hose, pipe and septic tank at thw Goll Course
and the matter was referred to the City Attorney to__idetermine the balance available
after the purcgase of the land and payment of taxes, interest and irrigation costs
had been deducted from. the $6,000 authorized for same.
The City Recorder was instruoted to write H. B. Glaisyer, Secrets,ry, Oregon State
Highway Commission inviting the commission to attend the dedication of the completion
of tm new highway over the Sistiyous on November 26tho
On motion.. the Council adjourned to meet a t the call of the Mayor.
