The Council met in regular session at 7130 P. M. this date. Present: Mayor
Wiley.. Councilmen Appl~hite.. Crandall, Koozer, Tayler. Absent: Councilmen Delsman,
Carson.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read.
Monthly reports of the Electric, Water and Street Departments and City Recorder
were read, accepted and ordered placed on file.
The condition of a toilet on an empty lot which had been reported by Mr. Olsen
living at 570 Fairview Street was referred to the City Health Offioer.
No objectors were present to protest against the oil pavement on Iowa.. Liberty
and Nutley Streets.
Bids having been received on a new grader, the Council next proceeded to consider
them as follows: Columbia Equipment Co... $6160 less trade in of $500.00 or $5660.00
Reed Tractor and Equipment Co $5315 less 2% It" It" 709.00 or 4500.00
Howard Cooper Corporation 4915 It" "" 550.00 or 4365.00
Feenaughty Machinery Co. 5335 tt It It", 8.QQ.00 or 4535.00
/ Following some discussion.. it was moved by Tayler that the bidslreferred to the
Electric Committee for report. Seconded and carried.
Committee Reports: Water: Upon motion by Carson, seconded by Tayler.. the City

Real ty: Upon motion by Crandall.. seconded b;;r Ta.yler the house a.t First and "ett
streets wa.s sold to 1. R. Wi~~ler for $50..00 with an additional $25.00 as a bond to
insure the thorough cleaning up of the lot after the removal. Carried.
The purchase of Lot 18, Block "E".. ll'airview Addition for $2.18 from the County
was approved.
The vacation of B~'sh Street between Scenic Drive and Almmnd Streets was discussed
further.
Upon motion by Crandall, a cammi ttee to appraise the value of properties on the
Plaza corner where it VJas hopec the new highway thru town wouJ..d be routed 'was approved.
Seconded and carried. The Mayor thereupon appointed the followinb: Carson, Tayler,
H. G. Engers. ~his comrr.ittee to meet with the counoil at 7:30 P. M. Monday, Nov. 25th.

A proposed ordinance levying special benefit assessments against the property
owners affected by the paving of Iowa Street from the Boulevard to Sherman Street was

the ordinance passed to the second reading by title only. Carried. Following the
second reading, it was moved by Koozer and.seconded by Tayler that the ordinance be
adopted as read and following a unanimous roll oall, the Mayor declared City Ordinance
No. lOll adopted.
A propesed ordinance levying special benefit assessments agains~ the property
owners affected by the paving of Liberty Street from the Boulevard to Ashlt=l.nd Street
was read and it was moved by Applewhite and secondeli by Koozer that tile rules be suspend-
ed andthe ordinance passed to the second reading by title only. Carried. Following the
second reading.. it was moved by Tayler and seconded by Koozer that the ordinance be
adopted as read and following a unanimous roll oall, the Mayor deolared City Ordinance
No. 1012 adopted.

andit was moved by Crandall and seconded by Koozer that the nules be suspended and
the ordinance passed to the second reading by title only. Carried. FoIl wing the second
reading, it was moved by Tayler and seoonded by Crandall that the ordinance be adopted
as read and following a unanimous roll call.. the Mayor declared Ci-ty Ordinance No.
1013 adopted.

A proposed ordinanoe vacating portions of Blaine Street and Emerick Avenue was
read and it was moved by Crandall and seconded '&u ayler that the rules be suspended
and the ordinanoe passed to the second reading by title only. Carried. Following the
seoond reading, it was moved by Tayler and seconded by Applewhite that the ordinance
be adopted as read and following a unanimous roll call, the Mayor deolared City Ordin-
ance No. 1014 adopted.
Upon motion by Koozer seconded by Tayler, the request of t he Chamber of Commerce
for $100.00 out of the advertising account for t he dedication of the completion of the
new Siskiyou Highway was approved. Carried.
Upon motion by Koozer seconded by #jjl#j~"H Crandall, the application of John S.
Eaton to operate a bowling alley was approved. Carried.
The City Recorder was authorized to advise the Coun"b.r Clerk that the City of
Ashland was not interested in property referred to in letter dated Nov. 12th viz Lots
,11 & 12 Block UK" R. R. Addition to the City of Ashland.
\/' The abstract of votes having been received from the County Clerk oovering the
election held on Novemver 5th, 1940, it was moved by Crandall and seconded by Koozer
that the council resolve itself into a canvassing board and canvas the votes cast.
Carried. Following the canvas, it was moved by Applewhite and seconded by Tayler that
the official oount be accepted. Carried.
