Mayor !liley, C.unciln~n Apple,vhite, Carson, Crandall, Tayler, Woodell. Absent. Cour~ilman Kopzer. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read. The Mayor made his annual report for the year 1&40 commenting on the activities of the various city departments, their progress and efficiency and revealing that the current tax levy of 16.5 was the lowest since 1918. The &lUlual reports of the Police, Fire and Cemetery Departments for the year 1940 and the montr.J.~- reports of the Electric, Water and Street Departments and City Recorder for Deaember were read, accepted and ordered placed on file. The matter of delinquent assessments and their collection was referred to the Finance ComrrJ.ttee upon motion by Tayler, seconded by Woodell .am carried. The following applications for building permits were presented: No.1. To rebuild garage and shingle house at 99 Granite Street at an approxUiate cost of $500.00 by D. Per~ozzi No.2. To erect garage at 107 North Second Street at an. approximate cost of $150.00 by D. R. Smith ' No.3. To erect new house in 300 block on Liberty Street at an approx1m*~ cost of $3000.00 by H. V. Nidever for Miss Funkhouser. No.4. To remodel poultry house on Water Street at an approximate cost of $500.00 by Goerge Frohr4li.ch. "I . It was moved by Carson and seconded by :i:ayler that the permits be granted. Carried Committee Reports: Fire: The proposed new fire hall was discussed and it was moved by Cranda~~. that the FIi='eCommi-ttee and City Sup1t investigate the law relative to the necessity7requir- ing the services of a registered architeot to prepare the plans and if required to engage one, but if not, the City Sup't to draw the plans of the fire hall. Seconded by Carson. Carried. . The condition of the Van Frauen dairy barn was referred 'to Dr. Woods. City Health C; Officer for investigation.
