The Council met in regular session at 7&30 P. M. this date. Present: Mayor Wiley..

The minutes ot the previous meeting were read and approved as read.
The annual reports of the Eleotric_ Water and Street Departments. City Recorder
andLibrarian a:ld the monthly repor't tor January for 'the City Judge were read_ accepted
and ordered placed on tila.
The following applications for building permi'te were presentedl
No.5: To erect dwelling at corner of Iowa and Harrsion Streets at an approximate
oost of $1600.00 by Lola E. Ellio~.
No.6: To remodel house at 566 Beaoh Street a"ti an approximate cost of $200.00 by
Eva Ball.
No.7: To build addition to stDre at 27 North Main Street at an approximate cas.
of $300000 by H. A. Stearns.
No.8: To paint and shingle dwelling at 8 "B" Street at an approximate cost of
$190.00 by Philip Wendt.
It was moved by Crandall: and seconded by Woodell that the permi t5 be granted
except No.7. which was subject to the Insurance Rating Bureau's assuranoe that same
would not increase fire insurance rates" if not the cause ot: increase in rates, it also
to be granted. Carried.
Commit!ee Reports:
Fire: Plans for the new fire hall were discussed.
Miscellaneous:The Flurry Mill (formerly Moon) lease was discussed.
cThe status of the Southern Oregon Gas Company's title to property on North Main
Street and on Water street was discussed. The former had been deeded to the City by
G. F. Billings t:or park purposes.
The City Attorney read a proposed ordinance conflrj!ng the lea se of the Pompador
Mineral Springs property from Frank J. Burnham to R. B. Newbern andi t was moved by
App 1 ewhi te andseconded by Orandal1 that the rules be suspended and the ordinance be
passed to the second reading by title only. Carried. Following the second reading. it
was moved by Tayler and seconded by Applewhite that the ordinance be adopted as read
and following a unanimous roll call, the Mayor declared City.Ordinance No. 1018 adopted.
An ordinance amending City Ordinance No. 1017, ~alary 0r.dinanoe, giving the Cemet-
ery Sup't. the 5% increase effective Jan. 1, 1941 was read by the City Attorney and it
was moved by Tayler and seconded by Carson tJ:>.,at the rules be suspended and the ordinance
passed to the second reading by title only. "'arried. following the second reading by
title, it was moved by Applewhite and s eoonded by Tayler that the ordinanoe be adopted
as read and following a unanimous roll call, the Mayor declared City Ordinance No. 1019
adopted.
