Absent: Councilmen Applewhite" Crandall. The mnutes of the previous meeting were read and apprond as read. Monthly reports of the Elec't:ric" Water end Street Departments and Ci~ Recorder were read, aocepted and ordered placed on file. The Allison Street paving petition was read. Mrs. Mary Freeman protested against the present condition of the street near her home and the matter 'WaS referred to the City Sup't. The time having arrived for the hearing,as advertised,for objectors against the paving of Palm Avenue and as none were present, it was moved by Woodell and seconded by Koozer that a resolution providing tor the construction thereof.. be prepared. Flaharty" President of 'the Ashland Chamner of Coranerce reporte.-d that Mr. Spaulding ertended his thanks 'to the Council for their eo-operation in helping him establish his lumber mill. Highway No. e9 by which huge advertising signs 10 or 12 teet by 40 or 42 teet would be erected at certain points on the highway and asked tor 'the sum of $260.00 which had been allocated to Ashland tor this purpose. Following a lengthy discussion, it was mOved by tayler and seconded by Koozer that $250.00 of the $500.00 apPJ;2Prie:~d in the 1941 budge't for this purpose be given for this advertising if approved7the Board of Directors of the ClB.mber. The Ci'ty Recorder was instructed to advise 'the County Clerk that the City of Ashland was not interested in properti';!..-9n which they had received boni fide ofters. April 15. 1941 No. 10 cont'd The City Attorney also reported that the Plaza corner cut off had been oked by the State Highway Commis sion. The William Platt irrigation ditch protest was discussed. The licensing of the gorilla exhibit at .5.00 per day was approved upon motion by Koozer. seoonded by Woodell and carried. The licensing cOInmi t1iee made its report.
