The Council met in regul&r s8s810n at 7,30 P. M. this date. Present. Mayor Wiley,
Councilznen Applewhite, Crandall, Koozer , Tayler, Woodell. Absent t COlU1ei1men Daugherty.
The mirlutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as re8.d.
Monthl~' repor'te of the City Librarian and City Judge were read_ accepted am ordere<
plaoed on file.
Bills amounting to $11.118.27 were read as to total amount only. s8U~ having been
oked by the various departments.. oommi ttees and finance committee and upon motion by
Koozer.. seconded by Crandall and following a unanimous roll call were ordered paid.
Carried.
The following applioations for building permits were presented:
No. 361 To erect garage at 368 Otis Street at an approximate cost of $150.00 by
Blen.ell M. Arncld.
No. 37, To renDdel and repair dwelling at 244 Grant Street at an approximate cost
of $100.00 by Mrs. Margaret Holt.
No. 38. To erect dwelling at 591 Falrview at an approximate cost of $1.000.00 by
Chas and Nancy Surber.
No. 39& To remodel dwelling at 417 Palm Avenue at an approllill te cost of $200.00
by Kate and Jos.F. Champion.
It was mO~"6d by Applewhite and seconded by Koozer that the permits be granted.

A peti~ion having been received asking thatAllison street between Union and
Gresham streets be paved with oil and also a curb and gutter constructed. it was moved
by Tayler and seconded by Crandall that notice of inte.tion to pave and construct
curb and gutter be published and the hearing sat for 8:00 P. H. Tuesday, May 20th.
Carriedo It was also decided that if any other streets desired oil pavement by petition
of the majority of the property owners. SNrle could also be included with the notice
published concefning Allison Street. and hearing eet at same tirr~.
Committee Reports:
Water &: Lights The Penalty of .50~ against Lulu Wilson foe delinquent pa)'ilent
was remitted after some discussion upon motion' by Tayler. seconded by App1ewpite and
carried.
Street I Biegel, City Sup.t r~9J:1,eA that the State Highway Commission 1i&. going to
spend 12300.00 for patching of the ~ in the City of Ashland.
Garbage: Dewey Van Curler holder of the C1 ty franchise for garbage 8ervlo'~tought
up some of th.e difficit1 ties he is having with other truck owners who olaim tha-e-/lii.ve
the right to haul garb8ge if they care to under the authori t)... of their ate.te licenses.

The Ci't)... Recorder was instructed 'th notify the County Clerk that the C1 ty ot
Ashland was noi; interested in property described ae Lots 11...14 and 19-20 Niekid. Plate
Addition to the C1 ty of Ashland.
It WaS moved by Taylor and seconded by Woodell that Council go on record as en-
dorsing Clean-Up Vieilk end the Mayor's Proclamation rela.ting thereto and that the
public be notified through the press that specie.l emphasis will be placed on the en-
forcement of existing ordinances relating to the cleaning-up and maintenance of
premises in the city during this period but that it be made elear to the public
that oity trucks and equipment will not be available for the free removal of gar-
bage this year. Carr!ed.
On motion. the Council adjourned to meet at the call of the Mayor I
