The minutes of th~ previous meeting were read and approved as read.
Montl"..ljr r6porls of the Electric. Street and Water Departments and C1 ty Recorder
were read. accepted and ordered placed on file.
The cancel1aticln of two Ashla.nd Water Bonds r8Cehtl~r purohased was approved upon
motion by Koozer, ~eeonded by Applewhite and carriedo
No objectors l'{ere present to protest against the Allis(ln Street curb. gutter and
pavement and the Scenic Drive pavement and upon motiOll by Koozer. seconded by Apple-
white, the City Atto~ney was instructed to prelare a resolt:.tlon authorizing the con-
struction same. Carried.
The folloWing applications for building permits were presented:
No. 401 To remodel and build addition to funeral home at 88 North Main Street at
an approximate cost of $1500.00 by C. M. Li t*iller.
No. 41: To erect restruant at 56 East Main Street an an approxirr4ate cost of $2000.
by D. R. Smi th.
No. 42: To erect garage at 477 Allison Street at an approximate cost of $150.00
by B. B. Balis.
No. 43: To remodel business building at 54 East Main Street at an approximate

No. 44. To erect fire escape of steel at ~he Masonic Building at an approximate
cost of $700.00 by H. R. Morris.
No. 45: To shingle roof at 661 "B" street at an approximate cost or $150.00 by
O. F. Riebel.

approximate cost of '400.00 by R. L. crosby.

Tr~ City Recorder was instructed to n'tify the County Cl.erk that the Cit~t .t
Ashland was not. interosted in loots 13 and 14, Block DC", Railroad Addition to the City
ot Ashle.nd.
A letter !rom t~le Ashland Chamber of Commerce asking for tho co-cperation of the
City in furthering the construction of a forest service road to proteet the west side
of the Ashls.nd watershed, was read and on motiOll by Daugherty. seconded by Applewhite..
the City Attorney ar~ City Superintendent were instructed to contact Mr. Janouch, super-
visor and write proper authorities concerning this road. Carried.
An int~resting report 'of the meeting of the American Water Works Association at
Seattle on Maya-10th was read by Mr. Biegel, Sup't., who with Wat6r Sup''t Hosler made
the trip. It was moved by Applewhite abd s,econded by Koozer that the report be placed
on file. Carried.
Tom Hill. Gresham. Street and Lou Roberts, 5'th Street were plaoed on the free list
tor light and water to June 30th, 1941 and any arrears on Mrs. Roberts account to be
cancelled.
Realty Comrrdttee. The sale of ~"O lots OTl Third Street for a. price of t60.00 to
N. I. Whe'ts*one was approved. of
The offer of $35.00 to William Plat't for a right-away for an irrigation ditch was
discussed.
The City Attorney, Chief of Police and Councilman Daugherty were appointed to
investigate the bowling alley noise at the new bowling alley near Greyhound tavern which
was operated by John S. Eaton.
Due to the increase in work on account of handling the Bellview Co-operative Water
A8soc1ation.~ accoun:ts and collections, the pay of Miss Dorothy Chapple _s inofeaeed
$6.00 per month, .ffective this month, upon motion by Koozer.. seconded Daugherty.
Carried.
