Engineer for the Cirll Aeronautics Authority ani Mr. Devereau of the W. P. A. concerning the possibility of an airport in the vicinity of Ashland. Mr. Perry eta ted that Ashland had been certified tor the location of one of the Dlneteen fields in Oregon. The War Department having se)eoted Ashland for a class 3 air por't. This type if air port required wto or more run-waY5 of not less than 4500 teet in length and so laid out th&t the run-way would not be more than 22i degrees from the direction of 80 per cent of the prevailing winds. The cost would be from $360,000 to $800,000.00. The probable approximate cost of this port beint; abcut 1600,000. about he.lf of which would be for labor. The government would pay the entire cost of construction. the City would furnish the site and pay the cost of operation. .After th~ ::no~ting, Y..r.
