Koozer, l'ayler. Woodell. Absent: None Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read. Bills amounting to $12,164.27 were read as to total 8JOOunt only, same having been oked by the various depar'bnents. committees and finanoe committee and upon motion by !Dozer, seconded by Crandall andfollowing a unanimous roll oall were ordered paid. Co~t~ee Reports: Finance: Koozer reported on the meeting of the finanoe committee,which had been instructed to investigate utility billing machines, and the demonstration siven by representatives of the Burroughs Adding Machine Company. He had also received prices from the Underwood Elliott Fisher Company. He stated tha~ the demonstration of the Burroughs had clearly demonstrated the superiority of that machine for billing pur- posed over the Underwood Elliott Fisher and that the corrilldttee had placed an odder for a rebuilt Burroughs, su~ject to the confirmation of the Council. On motion by Woodell, seconded by Tayler the purchase of the Burroughs was confirmed. following a unanimous roll call. The purchase of $3.000.00 in Ashland Water Bonds from Camp and Company of Port- land was approved. Fire: On motion by Koozer, seconded by Crandall, the City Superintendent was instructed to proceed to put in foundation for the new fire station at his convenience wi"tih regular city employees doing the work. since no bids had been received. Oarried. Realtyl Flufrry Mill was discussed. P. R. Hardy was reported as being appoin"tied trustee and the City Attorney s'tated that he desired a 10 year lease at $50.0u per year. Following considerable discussion, it was moved by Woodell and seconded by Tayler that the city execute a lease of the property to P. R. Hardy as trustee with the stipulation that payments must be maQ.~ promptly on the lease when due, that the mill must operate as a saw mill and b'ti'€5~OOO.000 teet of lumber per year and further that the lease was not to be assigned without the consent of the City of Ashland. Roll call was ordered on the motion with the following resul t: Applewhite. Crandall.. Daugherty, Yes. Koozer. No. Tayler and Woodell, ~ Oarried. . . A letter from Hunt and ChamlJera relative tol ~he proposed hospital plans was read and discussed. A report ooncerning the State Highway Commission meeting at which time the cutting off of the Plaza corner was considered, was made. ., The purchase of $1..000.00 worth of storm. sewer pipe by the S"tireet Department was approved upon motion by l'ay1er..t seconded by Woodell and carried.
