The monthly report ot the City Judge Bor t he :month ot April, 1947 was read, acoept- ed and erdered placed on tile. Bills amounting to $24,263.26 were read' as to total amount only, same having been eked 'by the various departments, co:amd ttees and finance committee and upon motion 'by Fisohborn, seGonded by Weits.l were erdered paid. Carried. Miss Lottie Beswick appeared before the Council and asked that streets which baa been laid out in the addition, whioh she was developing, be graded. Miss Beswiok had purohased the old Kormal Sohool s1 te som.etirae ago and had sub-divided it tor a high clas8 residential district. After discussion, it was moved by Merrill and seoonded by Weitsel that the C~ty Sup't do the grading en the Beswiok traot. Carriedo Mrso Samford also ot Bellview, It.tea that although ~he was opposed to theannexatiol but sinoe her property wa. practioally surrounded by Bellview property whioh was being voted upon for annexation, Ihe wanted her proper~ to be eonsidered for annexationo Following some disoussion, it was moved by Weitzel aDd seconded by Merrill that the Samford property be inoluded in the annexationo Carried. Kro E. C. Fulgham. 187 Harrison Street reported that his Springer-spaniel dog had 'been killed by Veterinary Surgean Dr. Weller upon request of the Po1ioe Department. He stated that the dog was Tery dear to him. and upon ene .ooasion had saved the lite of one ot his family. The dog was not vicious and had a oi ty dog license he stated. He asked that the d~g be replaoed. The matter was referred to the City Attorney. Mrso Dorothy Murphy who had-resigned her position as Assistant City Reoorder after 14: years and 3 months of faithful servioe, asked for her twolllreeks vacation pay, which she had not reoeived trom the Oi ty Sup't. Upon motion by Fisohborn, the request was granted and the Oi ty Attorney was instruoted to write her a letter of' oommendation for her splendid servioeo Seoonded and carried unanimously. Mr. A. Burt Freeman. senior member ot the Ashland Municipal Band appeared before the counoil and requested the oity to initiate the movement tor a musio shell in the park, by advanoing funds for plans costing .250.00. Upon motion by Fischborn, seoonded by Weitzel. the erdering ot pl8Jl8 tor the. aholl were authorized. Carried. . The appointment of Glen F. Mathews as band leader for the year waa approved upon motion by Daugherty. aeconded by Fisohborn and oarriedo :Mathewa is in8~uctor of Musi. at Southern Oregon College. Th. City Sup't was instruoted to work with Freeman in oonneotion with the proposed band staad upon motion by lIerrill, seconded by Fisohborn and carried. Possible use of Root estat. funds was mentioned, same biing under Park Commission control. Building Permits numbered 64 to '16 inclusive were.approved upon motion by Daugherty. seoonded by Weitsel and oarried. Total ot permits. $23.900.00 Cemmittee netorta, water.
