Present: Mayor Wiley, COLIDcilmen Daugherty, Fischborn, Nosl er, Wei tzel 0 Absent: Counoi Imen Merrill, Redford. The minutes of' the previous meeting were read and approved as read. Montr~y repo~ts of the City Judge and Library were read, accepted and ordered placed on file. Bob Lugar, manager of th e Cornmu...,i t:y' Hospital, reported the.t the X-Rays vms no lcng- er usu&ble due to lack of parts and would have to be ~eplaced. The City Sup't ~eported on probability of obtainint; replacement 'parts. Dr. P.L8.ines also spoke on the X-Aays and how it was necessary to send X-ray work to Medfordo 1~. Lugar also stated that the assigmuent of the present lease in the nmne of Dr. Haines and Dr. Poston to the Community Hospital, Inc. was desired. It was moved by Fisch- born, that before an assignnlent of the lease be authorized, that a written request signed by Dr, Haines and Dr. Poston be in the hands of the City Attorney. Seconded by Daugherty. Carried.. A delegation of people including Joe LeVeque, C. M. Frazier and H. C. Galey asked . what the Council was going to do about the petitions Mlich had been presented to the Plahning Conmussion asking that :Main Street be opened up to business establislunents. Follcwing a discussion, it was moved by Fischborn and seconded by Daugherty~ that the Planning Commission make knO\\'Tl to the Council its findings on these petitions and their recolllrnendation~:.;. Carried. William Healy ~ Secretar:/ of the Ashland Chamber of Commerce spoke with reference to appee.ling tIle decisions of the Planning Connnission and also asked for additional funds for the completion of the Chautauqua Stage. As a sum of $3500 had been mentioned for the Chautauqua Stage and a bit over $2400.00 had been spent~ an additional $1.100 for its completion was asked for. It was moved by Weitzel and seconded by Fischborn that $l.mOO. be authorized for the completion of the Chautauqua Bldg., but with the priviso that the stage roo~ be completed first. The money to come out of the Emergency Fund and the Uen- eral Fund revenues to be increased by $400.00 to provide for part of this expense.Carried. An ordinance providing for the lev;ing; of a tax for t he coming fiscal year in the amount of $46.598 was read by the City Attorney. It was moved by Fischborn and seconded Daugherty that the rules be suspended and the ordinance be {llssed to the second reading by title only. Carried. Following the second reading. it was moved by Weitzel and second- ed Daugherty that the ordinance be 'adopted as read and following a unani~ous rmll call. the Mayor declared City Ordinance No. 1060 adoptedo An ordinance fi7~ng the salaries of employees for the coming fiscal year was read b:\r the City Attorney. It was moved bJ-r Fischborn and seconded by Nosil.er that the rules be suspellded and the ordinance be passed to the second reading by ti~le only. Carried. Fol- lowing the second reading. it was mbved by Fischborn ar~seconded by Daugherty that the ordinance be adopted as read and following a unanimous roll call. the Mayor declared City Ordinance No. 1061 adopted. Building per~mits nunmered from 94-98 inclusive were approved upon illotion made, sec- onded and carried. Total of permits, $11.700.00. Dennis Espp's request to have his property included in the city limits was received and placed on file upon motion by Daugherty, seconded and carried. A letter from R. H. Riddle of the Cottage Grocery requestin6 curb and gutter on Coolidge Street vms re~d. It ~:'as moved by Daugherty that same be installed at a cost of $2.00 per foot 'as estirooted. A petition signed by so:me 25 property owners living near the eal-Ore Lumber Go. mill asking that the Council investigate and try and have the Gal-Ore Lumber Co. pave the stretch of road where East lain Street crosses the S. P. Railroad track and put in smdew~lks and prov~de a railing on each side of the road to ,make it safe. It was report- ed to be indanserous condition.
