Presentz Mayor Wiley, Counoilmen Daugherty, Fisohborn, Merrill, Nos1er, Redford, Weitzel. Absent: None. The minutes of tb3 last meeting were read and a pproved as read. Bills amounting to $69,793.45 were read as to to-ml amount only, same having been oked by the 'Various dep.\rtments, committees am finance committee and were ordered paid. A letter front the Ashlam Planning Commie sion offering iheir resignation as members of the oommission was read. Members signing the letter were: H. R. Marris, G. M. GReen, G. H. Wenner, Don O)Bleness" H. R. MoKeever, Howard W. Oden and C. E. Corry. It was moved by Redford and seconded by Daugherty that their resignations be accepted and *n the suggestion of Merrill, they _re thanked for iheir services. Carried. A letter from tl:e Chief of Police reported his findings on the Earl A. Reas e case at 162 Alida Street. Mr. Rease stated 'that he knew he was operating his business in rear of his house.. on Morse A-venue, in a residential district, but knew of other cases where they were doing the same. Upon motion by Fia chborn, seoonded by DaUgherty, the Chief of Police was instructed to notify him to quit operating and the City Attorney prepare an ordinance ohanging the zoning ordinanoe so that it is legal to ohange thw type of business to anotr.er type without jeopardizing the use of the building for thiS. new useo Carried. Building permits numbered from 99 to 117 inolusive were read and it _s moved by Weitzel am seconded by Redford -that the permits be granted. Carried. Total of permits. $67.500.00. In connection with a letter ot protest from ".An interested !rax Payer" oomplaining .against the sprinklers on the Boulevard. Park Row, it was moved by Daugherty and seconded by Weitzel that the 'prinking be done only at night and that the Police Department look after the turning on and eff ot the water at night. Carried. The transfer of $1.50 in deposits to active accounts was approved. The City Attorney stated that the Southern Pacific Co. was willing to make their property to~erly used as a stock yard, available to the City for a warehouse if desired. It was moved by NosIer and seoonded by Weitzel that the City Attormy obtain a long term lease on the property at a low rental pri.... Carried. ComIni ttee Repkrts: Water: Fischborn reported that Soripter.. and MoKeever had been paying a duplioate ..tar date at their ston. en North Main Street. It was moved by Kerrill that they be re-embursed the differenoe betwnn paid and the amount owing tor same. Second- ed and carried. The City Sup't reported on the status of the _ter construction to date. Streets The City Sup't reported petitions for curb and gutters on Rook Street. on ElkAder Street from Fern down am up to ?rospect street. and also Wimer Street from NorTh Main to ~oenio Drive. It was moved by NosIer and seoonded by Daugherty that intention to oonstruct san~ be advertized. Carried. It was moved by Merrill and seoonded by Weitzel that the City Sup't use his best judgement; in cleaning out Bear Creek from. the Weitzel Building to the Poultry plant. Carried. The City Attorney ststed, that the Mayor and Counoil were invited to attend the Hmrse- Show on Sept. 19, free of charge. Merrill repprted that Gragg had reported soum on the pluhges and the _tar had been sent in for test to determine its oontent. On motion, the Council adj ourned to 100 et at the call of the Mayor. Fischborn am seoonded that the or dimnoe be amended to provide for the new site, Carried. The orclginal site had to be changed due to prior sale of ceriain lote on that location. The meeting took plaoe at the oe&tery. The Chief of Police repor-t.. ed that it would not be possible to turn water on and off on the park row as planned.
