The Council met in regular session at 7:30 P. M. this date. Presenta :Mayor Wiley~
Councilmen Daugherty, Fischborn, Merrill, NosIer, Radford, Weitzel. Absent: None
Monthly reports of the Judge and Reoorder were read, aoo epted a nd ordered plaoed
on fileo
Bills amounting to $59.146.01 were read as to total amount only, same having been
oked by the various departments, committees and finance oonunittee and were ordered paid.
A letter of protes% from Mrs. Newoomb, 72-5th Street conoerning her dri va-way
which had nor been left open when the IlUrb was installed.. The matter was referred to
the City Suptt for correction.
A petition requesting that Merse Avenue be changed from residential to a business
zone was read and the matter was discussed. It was moved by Redford and seoonded by
Merrill that the hearing on the zoning be advertized for Tuesday~ October 19th.
Carried.
Committee Reports:
Street: Merrill reported thab ille report on the taxi franchise would be made later.
A petition from the U. and S. Lumber Company requesting permission to construot
their mill loca.ted at 46 California Stredt 36 inches or ~raotion thereof' from oh8ir
present properZy lineg towards the street. It was moved by Noster and s eoonded by Merril:
that t henmat'ter be referred to the Ci tJr Attorney for plans to make legal only as muoh as
neededo Carried.
Ewald Bosshard reported on the signs on either end of the to~r.n for advertsing
Ashland. These signs would be approximately 8 feet by 20 feet. Disoussion followed and
costs oonsidered.
