If' I
To whom it may concern:
I am interested in serving on the Conservation Commission. I lived in California most of
my life, San Francisco Bay Area. My family and I moved to Oregon the fall of 2006 due
to my husband's job with Amy's Kitchen. We settled in Ashland summer of2007, and
quickly feel in love with the city and what it has to offer. Since moving to Ashland we
have built strong ties in the community and have made great friends.
Over the past couple of years I have learned a great deal when it comes to conservation
and sustainability that I never knew before and was never taught in California. Yes,
California recycles, however I never quite understood the meaning behind it. I now know
and understand the importance of conservation and sustainability, and how we have to
educate the masses. I have learned how to compost and have a huge bind in my
backyard. I have learned the importance of not having a huge green lawn. I have learned
about how to optimize your solar orientation and make it work for you to reduce your
energy cost. I am now a Certified Sustainable Building Advisor and am currently
working on my Master Recycler certification. I am also working with Fred Gant from
Earth Advantage to put on Green Drinks in Ashland. I have a degree in Speech and
Communication with an emphasis in public speaking.
I am very excited by all that I have learned, and am hoping to share my knowledge with
others. I feel that by serving on the committee I can bring a new perspective, and also
learn and expand my knowledge base. I am very interested in serving and working with
other on a common goal to help Ashland and Oregon as a whole learn and implement
conservation ideas.
Thank. you for your consideration, I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Sheri Safreno Cellini, CSBA
