Counoilmen Blake. Ingle. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read. Monthly reports of the Elec'tric~ Street. Water Departments and City Reoorder were read. aocepted and ordered placed on file A bill from the Pioneer Service Company for #35.67 and E. O. Smith for $28.40 were upon motion by Crandall. seconded by Koozer. ordered paid. The following applications for building permits were presented. No. 24. To re-shingle dwelling at 601 Walnut street at an approximate oost of $300.00 by Jon es Ford. No. 25. To repair business building at 393 East Main Street at an approximate cost of $220.00 by the Western Loan & Bldg. Co.. Gao. Inrson. Agent. Medford. Oregon. It was moved by Koozer and seoonded by Hansen that the permits be granted. Carried. Letters from Mr. Dyrud. Mrs, Neeley. Mrs. C. H. Brown and Miss Merritt prptes1;ing against the conducting of a school in the Adventist Church on Fourth Street near nCn were read and following discussion, motion was made by Kooser, seconded by Hansen that reoeipt of these letters be acknowledged and the parties be advised that the matter had been referred to committees for investigai:ion andreport. Carried. Committee Reports. . Electric. Biegel requested authority to purohase a car load of poles oosting about $1000.00, a new auto radio at $50.00 and typewriter at $115.00. Moved by Applewhite and seconded by Koozer that the purohase be authorized and following a unanimous roll oall. the authorization was granted. Dump Ground. Applewhite reported on a protest whioh the residents of the Bellview Distriot were making ooncerning a bad odor coming from the City Dump Ground. The matter was ref'rred to the Realty Committee for investigation and report. Band. O. F. Carson spoke on the Ashland Band and asking that an appropriation of $500.00 for,pay for members of the band for practices, and concerts and $20,00 for music be provided for in the oo1hi.ng budget. The matter was discussed for some time. On motion, the council adjourned to meet Friday, October 1st at 7.30 P. M. for consideration of the budget for 1938. Attest. (Signed) J. Q.
