The Council met in adjourned session at 8.00 P. M. this' date,., Pre~ent. Mayor
Wiley, ~a&1,lg~lmen Applewhite, Carson, Crandall, Delsman, Koozer, J;ayler and the '
Citizen sleommittee oonsisting of George W. Dunn, J. H. Hardy, Melvin Kaegi, J. D.
Mars, S. B. McNair And W. W. Whittle.
The Mayor stated the purpose of the joint meeting was to pass on the budget for
the year 1940. J. H. Hardy was elected chairman and 'i<U '1l Whittle, seoretary. Ccpies
of details of all erlimateil expenditures and estimated revenues for the ooming year
O were provided, considered, discussed and adopted in order.
Moved by Koozer and' seconded by Applewhite that items of expenditure estimated
for the 60uncil and layor of $730.00 and $211.00 respectt~lly, be adopted. Carried
Moved by Applewhite and seconded by Crandall, the estimates for the Recorder be
approved at $1,075000. Carried.
Moved by Dunn'and seconded by Kaegi that estimates for the Treasurer of $600.00
be approved. Carried.
Moved by Koozer and seconded by DelBman that the estlimates for City Attorney
of $1,230000 be approved. Carried.
Moved by Ke.egi and seconded by Dunn that the estima.j;es for BuUdings of $322.00
be approved. Carried.
Moved by Applewhite and seconded by Delsman that the estimates for Elections,
Auditing, Engineer, City Judge and Advertsiing of $85.00, $350.00, $253.00, $248.00
and $150.00 respectfu~y be approved. Carried.
General Government total as shown in foregoing of $5,254.00
Representativeil of t re Park Board, Lewis Dodge and others being present, the Park
budget was hext taken up.
Moved by Crandall and seconded by Mars that the~estime.teil expenditures of the
Park be approved.
Moved by Carson and seconded by MoNair that the estimated revenues of the Park
be reduced $160,00 or to $300.00 instead of $450.00. Thil effect of this motion made
the budget ###if $150.00 over the 2i mill limit and it was moved by Crandall and second-
ed by Applewhite that the matter be reconsidered, and the motion was ;i thdrawn. It
was then moved by Koozer and seconded by Kaegi that the original estimated~>>,'I#~~ffiii
expenditures be reduced $450.00, $400.00 reduction in wages and $60.00 in equipment
repairs. Carried. Moved by Applewhite and seoonded by Koozer that the revenues be
reduoed $450.00, the item set up for oare of the Boulevard Park Rov. being elimiIll'tted.
Carried. The resulting motions brought the estimated expenditures to $7,345.00 and the
estimated revenues to $1,050.00. ~
Moved by Carson and seconded by Mc air that the estimated oxpenditures for the Po
lice Deparrment of $9,630.00 be approved. Carried.
Moved by Koozer and seconded by Dunn that the estimated expenditures of the
Fire Department of $6,970.00 be approved. Carried.
Moved by Crandall and seconded by Mars that the estimated expenditures of the
street Department of $9,700.00 be approved. Carried.
Moved by McNair and seconded by Crandall that the ,estimeted expenditures of
I' 0' - Street Lighting, Lithia Four,tain and Health Department of $5,000.00, $360.00, and
~ ' $lE5.00 respect~lly be approved. Carried.
Moved by Applewhite and seoonded by Kooz er that the estima. ted oxpendi tures of
the Sanitary Department of $100.00 be approved. Carried.
Moved by Crandall and seconded by Tayler that the estimated expenditures of the
Relief Department of $625.00 be approved. Carried.
Moved by Carson and seconded by Mars that the estimated expenditures fOr the
Recreation Department(Band) of $1511.00 be approved. Carried.
Moved by Crandall and seoonded by Koozer that the estimayed expenditures for the
Health Department of $1,020.00 be ftpproved. Carried.

Miscellaneous De~rtment of $2.406.00 be approved. Carried.
Total General Fund estimated expenditures $43.316.00.
Moved by Del sman and s eoonded by Kaegi that the estimated expenditures of the
Library which had been reduced from Je.704.00 to $5.338.00 be approved, Carried.
Moved by Kaegi aDd seoonded by Koozer that the estimated expenditures of the
Cemetery of $4.018.00 be approved. Carried.
Moved by Applewhite end s eoonded by MoNair that the estimated expenditures of the
Sinking Fund be approved. Carried at $11.150.00.
, Moved by Tayler and seoonded by Mc11air that the estimated expenditures of the

Moved by Crandall and seconded by Delsman that the estima~d expenditures of the
Wa.ter DepartInem of $56,100.00 be approved. Carried.
Moved by Tayler and seconded by McNair that the estimajed expenditures for the
Sewage Disposal Department of $4,200.00 be approved. Carriled.
The estimated Revenues' were oonsidered next.
Moved by Applewhite and seoonded Kaegi that the esltthmajed revenues of the
General Fund of $lB.703.00 be approved. Carried.
Moved by Crandall aDd seoonded by MoJ.~air that the estimated revenues of the.
Library Fund 86 amended.to $200.00 be approved. Carried.
The Park Fund revenues had already been approved at the time the Park expenditures
were approved.
Moved by Mo"air and seoonded by Kaegi that the es1l:\.ml.ted revenues of the Cemetery
'Fund of $1.500.00 be approved. Carried.
Moved by Crandall and seoonded by Delsman that the estimated revenues of the
Electric, Water and Sewage Disposal Departments of $80.500.00, $56,100.00. and $4,200.0(
respeotfa81y be approved. Carried. '
The entire amount of expenditures and rel\T6nues as estimated for the year 1940
having been apprcved requiring a total tax levy of $49,118.00, it was moved by Koozer
and seconded by MoNair that the budget of $49,118.00 for the year 1940 be a pproved and
the proposed budget ~ublished as required by law. Carried.
On motion, the foouncil adjourned to meet at the oall of the Mayor.
