Present: Mayor :l: Wiley, Councilmen Applewhi'te, Carson, Crandall, DelSman, Keozer, ayler. Absemt: None Be~ore taking up the chie~ p~rpose o~ the meeting, the construction o~ a curb and gutter on Sixth Street ~rom East //lain to "c" Street was discussed, ~ollowing the read- ing o~ a peti'tion reques'ting that same be done, ahd it was moved by Keozer and second~ ed Crandall that the "Intent 1;0 cons'truct a curb and gutter on Sixth Stree't be~veen East Main and "c" Streets" be published. Carried. The chie~ purpose o~ the meeting was to consider a protest against the showing o~ the French Follies at the Varsity Theatre on Sa'turday, Feb. 24th. Represen'tatives o~ the various groups protesting this showing, such as the P. T. A. , W. C. T. U, and the Ashland Ministerial Ass'n were present and each v~s oppoeed to having it shaw in Ashland since the literature advertising the show appeared to be very indecent. Mr. Leverette, manager o~ 'the Varsity 'Theatre was ptesent and s'tated that he ~elt that the show was alright and samd that i~ it wasn't, he would not let it show. He said that he would like to have the Mayor appoint a corrucdttee consisting o~ represen'tatives o~ the various groups, the council, ete and see the ~irst act and i~ the committee ~elt that the show vms indecent, he would. stop it. Thereupon, the Mayor appointed the Chie~ o~ Police, Mr. Turnbough, or other member o~ the ministerial ass'n, Mr. Davis o~ the School Board, Mrs. Litwiller, Mr. Delsman, Mrs. Wol~, Mr. Hunter o~ the Tidings and Mr. Hall o~ the Jainer as a committee to view the showing o~ the French Follies.
