The Counoil met in adjourned session at 7,30 P. M. this date. Present. Mayor W~lt~
O Councilmen Applewhite. Daugherty, Koozer, Tayler. Woodell. Absent. Crandall(who cam~ f)
No objectors were present to protest against the reoently adopted budget and a
proposed ordinance levting a tax for the period from and including Jan. 1, 1942. up to
and including June 30. .1942 in the sum of $22;199.00 upon the real and personal property!
subject.to assessment and levy within the limits of the City of Ashland was read. It i
was moved by'Tayler and seconded by D8i1l~ty that the rules be suspended and the ord- i
inance passed to the second reading by title only. Carried. Following the second readingj
it was moved by Koozer and seconded by Applewhite that the ordinance be adopted as read
and following a unanimous roll call, the Mayor declared the .City Ordinance No. 1023
adopted.
.An ordinance requiring the Recorder of the City of Ashland, Oregon to notify the
County Assessor and County Clerk of the County of Jackson, State of Oregon, of all del-
inquent special benetft assessments and docketed city liens was read and it was moved by
Applewhi te and seconded by Daugherty that the ordinance be passed to the second reading,
by title only, the rules being suspended. Carried. Following tile second reading. it was
moved by Tayler and seconded by Woodell that the ordinance be adopted as read and fol-
lowing a unanimous roll call, the Mayor declared City Ordinance No. 1024. adopted.
Bids on the golf course equipment having 'been received, they were ~iscussed briefly
and referred to the Golf Committee.
Members of the Planning Commission including Dr. Redford,Pres, Corry, Seot'y, Norby,
Flaharty, Wenner and Green were present and took seats at the counoil table with the
Council. Crandall came in at this time.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the proposed city zoning plan and a large
city map outlining the proposed zones was presented and a long discussion followed.
Win. M. Briggs. Attorney. presented a petition signed chiefly by owners of property on
Siskiyou Boulevard and North lnain Street protesting against the zoning particularly as
applied to business locations on those streetS outside of the present business distriot.
Finally. to get an expression from the Counoil. it was moved by Woodell andseoonded by
Crandall that the prinoipls of zoning as shown by the map submitted by the Planning
Commission be adopted by the Counoil. fH#,'HNH Roll call was_ordered with the vote as
follows. Applewhite. No.-Crandall. Yes, Daugherty, Koozer. Tayler, No. Woodell. Yes.
Motion. lost. '"
The motion having been lost, it was moved by Tayler and seoonded by Applewhite
that the map be referred back to the Plsnning Commission for t he purpose of holding a
hearing .on same or ohanging it for furtller consideration of the Counoil. Carried.
It was moved by Tayler and seoonded by Daugherty that the building permit of the
CMOGee Drive-in Market be approved. Carried.
On motion, the Counoil adjourned to meet at the oall of the g####N~ Mayor,
