HomeMy WebLinkAbout1947-0623 ADJOURNED MIN ~- ,- June 23. 1947 No. 19 II II The Council met in adjourned session at 4.45 P. M. this date. Present. Mayor Wiley, Councilmen Fischborn, Merrill, NosIer. Absent: Councilmen Daugherty, Red1'ord, Weitzel. The purpose of the meeting was to canvas the rei;urns of' the election for the annexation of a designated part of the Bellview Distriot adjacent to the City of Ash- lam. The Council then proceeded to oanvas the rei;urns of the eleotion, in accordance with the laws in such oases made and provided. The result of the canvas, after having been duly made. was ascertained to be as foll,~ws. 'I- DISTRICT TOTAL VOTES FOR AGAINST MAJORITY FOR 1st Ward 155 87 68 19 2nd Ward 144 79 66 14 Bellview 48 33 16 18 347 199 148 61 The City Attorney then read a resolution providing for the annexation of the new territory as the resul t of the el eotion. It was movod by Merrill and secomed by Fischborn that the resolution be passed to the second readilll!; by title only, the rules being suspended. Following the second reading, it was moved by Fischborn and seconded by NosIer that the resolution be adopted as read am followilll!; a nnRnimnus roll call, the Mayor deolared the resolution adopted. The City Sup't reported that the Trailways had a 45 months lease of: their present depot on 3rd Street and East Main Street and wanted to have the curb cut to the side- walk. It was moved by Fischborn and seconded by NosIer that their request be granted. Carried. The matter of the transf:er of' ~e Reception's lioe;.nse fro"! their North Main Street location to their new location on Bast Main Street was ref:erred to the Chief: of: Police to report back. Motion made by NosIer, seconded by Merrill and carried. The large amount of deteil required by the Police Department in taking care of: licensing of: automobiles was discussed. It was ref:erred to the City Attorney to see if a State man f:rolll Medf:ord could not be seoured to serve one day in the week in Ashlatld to help out in this matter.
