The council met in adjourned session at 7:30 p.m. this dateo
~resent: Mayor Wiley, Councilmentuaugherty, Fischborn, Merrill, Noslerl
Redford and Weitzel. Absent~ Noneo
The City Attorney announced that on March 2, two representatives
would be present, one Federal and one State, in connection with the
airport. The representatives had told the City Attorney they could
assure the City Council that immediately following July 1949 the City
could get back 25% of the purchase price on the airport; thereafter
I the government could match up to 56% of any amount allocated for
improvement on the ~lrnort.
Mr. Harvey was called upon to discuss the possibilities of
getting additional water in Reeder Dam by installing a series of
spillways to raise the water approximately 4 feet. Mr. Harvey asked
if he might have time to check over the dam because of the danger of
increased pressure. Mr. Harvey was instructed to prepare an estimate
on the spillways.
y~. Biegel reported on his findings in connection with a new
rol~r. It was moved by Fischborn and seconded by Merrill that
Mr. Biegel be given permission to investigate further a rol~ r on
sale in vakland, wd to report. Carried.

At 8:00 p.m. the bids on the Winburn WHy Bridge construction
were opened. The first from Auslmd & DOdson, lump sum of $6885.0b.
The second from ~inniger & Watkins, lump sum bid of $6735.25; work
to be completed in 30 d~s. It was moved by Fischborn and seconded
by Weitzel that the Council defer the acceptance of the pinnlger &
Watkins bid until Weitzel could contact the property owners for the
signing of the deeds. Carried. Mr. Pinniger said he would try to
get an extension from the steel company on the 5 day period granted
before the bid was declared invalido
The Planning Commission was asked to come forward to report on
their findings in regard to the tria~~~ between Hwy. 66 & V9 ~
Normal Ave, which ~as under considerLtion for business zoning. A
letter from Geo. M. Roberts, Attorney for the Reswick sisters, who
oppose the zoning, was read ~y the City Attorney. 1~. Zittercob was
asked to state his reasons for not wanting t~isarea zoned as a
residential district. tw. Greene of the Zoning Commission asked that
the City Council give the ~lanning Commission additional time to re-
consider any zoning either business or residence. . It was moved by
Redford and seconded by Daugherty that the triaggle be zoned as a bus-
iness district. Mr. Greene then asked for an amendment to the motion
giving the Zoning Commission the additional time for re-condideration
that he had asked. Mr. 0reene's motion was lost for want of a secondo
A vote was taken on the original motion and it was carried.
At 10:00 p.m. the Special Elect~on for Water Project returns
were announced. They were as follows:

It was moved by Fischborn and seconded by Weitzel that the
results of the canvas as ascertained above be accepted by the Council
as read. Carried.
On motion, the Council adjourned to meet at the call of the
Me yor.
