Dear George:
It is our understanding that the State Highway Division
has 'elected to discontinue maintenance of landscaping, such
as lawn and shrubs, on State highways within the State.
We are concerned with the lawns which are now dying In
the downtown area of Ashland since this is an area of
tourist activity and also relates to general appearance of
a vital part of our City.
This letter is a request for permission for the City to
donate irrigation water, lawn mowing, and other maintenance
on (1) the island at E. Main and Siskiyou Boulevard and (2)
the island at Helman and N. Main Street.
This would be a temporary arrangement for the period of
short maintenance monies in the Highway budget.
We would appreciate your consideration of this request.
