Almquist , City Administrator r rum: Al Williams , Director of Electric Utilities ujiQt}, Location of Electric Meters on New Homes and Rewires l We are having a great deal of problems with people installing their meters in back of houses away from the utility lines . Also , we are having more trouble with access to the meters , i . e . , trash, locked gates , unhappy customers with us entering their yards , dogs , and meters being enclosed. I believe it is time for an ordinance to require meter locations to be installed on the side of the house nearest to our available service point , and within 5 feet of the front of the house when power lines are in front . The Electric Department should be contacted if unusual circumstances require the meter to be located elsewhere .
